Australian Law Students' Association Conference: Implications of Legalising Same-sex Marriage

The Gay Marriage and Law in Australia Forum hosted by the Australian Law Students’ Association included a panel of speakers comprised of Councillor Christine Forster, Patrick Langrell, Jenny Leong MLA, Lyle Shelton and Dr Benjamin Cross.

At one point in this forum, the panellists discuss whether polygamy would be legalised in Australia if the definition of marriage was extended to include same-sex couples. After first rejecting this as a scare tactic, Councillor Forster had no reason as to why marriage should not be extended to polyamorous relationships. She instead said that they should “get in line.”
