Same-sex marriage and gender ideology destroy the family. For proof, take a look at what is happening to Canada: parental rights are no longer upheld – it is now the State who decides what is best for children.
Parents in Canada who do not support their children’s gender decisions could now have their children taken away – because this is now considered “abuse”. A new law passed in Ontario gives the government the right to remove children from families that do not accept their child’s “gender identity” or “gender expression”.
The Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act of 2017 (also known as Bill 89), was passed by a vote of 63 to 23.
Judges and child services are now compelled to consider a child’s “race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, family diversity, disability, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.”
Minister of Child and Family Services Michael Coteau, who introduced the bill, said “I would consider that a form of abuse, when a child identifies one way and a caregiver is saying no, you need to do this differently.”
“If it’s abuse, and if it’s within the definition, a child can be removed from that environment and placed into protection where the abuse stops.”
It is dramatic that the Minister of Child and Family Services equates disagreeing with a child’s perceived gender or sexual identity as a form of child abuse. Parents know their children better than the state, and are thus in a better position to know what a child is experiencing. However, in parts of Canada and the US [link to Illinois story] the State now sees fit to supplant the parents’ judgment with its own preferences.
Previously, the law afforded parents the right to “direct the child’s education and religious upbringing,” but not anymore: the state has stripped those rights away. Parents are only allowed to “direct the child or young person’s education and upbringing, in accordance with the child’s or young person’s creed, community identity and cultural identity.”
Recent events in Norway depict the horrors of such policies in practice. The Bodnariu family was torn apart by social workers who forcibly took their children after reports of parental abuse – claims which were later dropped due to lack of evidence. All five children, including one three-month-old baby, were removed and placed in separate homes. Not one judge was involved in the process, just “well-meaning” social workers.
“With the passage of Bill 89, we’ve entered an era of totalitarian power by the state, such as never witnessed before in Canada's history….
Make no mistake, Bill 89 is a grave threat to Christians and all people of faith who have children, or who hope to grow their family through adoption.”
Canada is no stranger to forcibly pushing same-sex marriage and gender ideology on all citizens: Ontario also has a Safe Schools-style program which is compulsory for all schools, including faith-based schools. As we have seen, infiltrating schools is a major goal for radical ideologists. Once they are able to indoctrinate impressionable children, they then look to further break down the traditional family.
Ontario also passed the All Families Are Equal Act, which removes mothers and fathers from the law, and allows up to four ‘parents’ on a child’s birth certificate. Canada also refuses to allow law graduates from a Christian university to practise law because of the Christian teaching on marriage.
Canada’s reality is a warning: wherever marriage is redefined, parents have their rights trampled, and their children’s upbringing controlled by the state. As the marriage war rages on, we must ask ourselves: are we prepared to face the consequences? Or will we refuse to hand our beloved country and children to radical, ideological tyrants?
